For this project, our task was to support the creation and planting of a terrace created from scratch on a Parisian zinc roof. Transforming a roof into an accessible terrace was our clients’ ambitious idea. After contributing to the design and overseeing the construction phase, led by the architects, we planted the entire terrace and chose furniture and lighting.

The sloping roof configuration dictated the creation of a double-level. An integrated bench allows the upper level to be used for a large dining table under a guinguette garland. The lower level is used as a lounge space.

The terrace is located in the heart of the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and is not without its close neighbours. On one side of the terrace, a long trellis hides the view, while on the other, the plant palette is dominated by evergreen shrubs to hide from windows that are too close. The choice of plants for this sunny spot creates a lovely Mediterranean atmosphere.

At night, Jean-Philippe Weimer’s lighting fixtures blend in with the plants to create a natural, softly lit atmosphere.
The terrace is now ideal for dining in fine weather, but also for enjoying the peace and quiet of this central location.
