Terraces – Paris 16

For this project, onepoint placed its trust in us once again to plant the terraces of its new headquarters on avenue d’Eylau. These spaces, adjoining an event venue and an office floor, were designed to offer a soothing atmosphere, blending nature and clean design, in a wabi-sabi spirit.

In keeping with this Japanese inspiration, we selected plants with graphic, structured trunks and thinly-cut foliage. With a deliberately limited plant palette, they bring finesse and elegance. The planting plays with heights: high points emerge from the vegetation to draw the eye, while a lower, blurred level of grasses and more compact plants provides a delicate contrast, recalling the harmony of Asian gardens.

The lounge and dining areas have been delineated by black steeel planters forming curved alcoves. These spaces are isolated from one another by tall vegetation, creating havens of tranquillity for the company’s staff.

A custom-made burnt-wood panel organically decorates a key area of the terrace, masking an overly prominent wall. Its rounded shape recalls the gates of Chinese and Japanese gardens, while also recalling the traditional “yakisugi” (burnt wood) techniques used in Japan to combine aesthetics and strength.

The terraces have been designed as spaces where people can meet and relax. Every detail, from the choice of plants to the materials used, has for purpose to create a soft, serene and timeless atmosphere.
