Courtyard – Paris 8 – Carre Concorde

In the beautifully newly renovated Carré Concorde building, our mission for this client was to create a private corner of greenery to protect the meeting rooms on the ground floor from prying eyes.

Within the limits of the space allocated to our client, we built a series of planters like boxes of different heights, as a reminder of the classic and geometric codes of the courtyard. The planters are higher in front of the bay windows for enhanced privacy. The space is also flexible : planters on wheels separate the different meeting rooms from each other but can be moved and fully open up the space for a reception, for example.

We have carefully selected each of the maples and birches to create a forest. A few evergreen shrubs complete the layout. As the courtyard is mostly shaded, the trees were chosen to be deciduous and let in additional light in the winter months. All blooms are white in color and spread out throughout the year. Ferns and grasses make it possible to play on textures and shades of green. Planted at the foot of trees, they adorn the lower area of planters. The choice of a limited number of species and colors allows for a contemporary and elegant look.

The exterior furniture harmonizes with the interior furniture for a contemporary atmosphere, softened by the terracotta and soft shapes of the large pebbles which serve as a coffee table or as a seat in turn.
